Technology, Dumbing Down a Generation.

Good day Cyberland,

So it's been a while since I wrote anything but this is something that has been bothering me for a while. Is it just me or is this current generation actually less intelligent then people were two generations ago? When was the last time most "kids" (referring to my generation) opened up a book or played a board game? We are a generation of instant gratification, if you can't go into google and find it then it doesn't exist. If we don't have spell check most people can hardly type out a sentence without misspelling a word. Grammar is nonexistent in today's society of texting and tweeting and facebook updates. Everything has turned into an acronym, lol this and lmao that with the random stfu thrown in for good measure.

We have children that are 9 years old that can run circles around most of us on a computer but have trouble with basic mathematics. Technology is suppose to make life easier, not make people dumber. Could you imagine the outcome if the Internet went down for just 24 hours world wide? I think it would be one of the funniest events in modern history. It would affect most of the population, not only the facebookers and social networkaholics but the college kid who takes all of their classes online and the business owner who can't get his email. To think a mere 15 years ago most people could hardly use a computer let alone the Internet. Now if someone's cell phone doesn't work their world comes to a screeching halt until they can get it fixed. I just find it mind-blowing.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
